Making space for
Queer joy
One gathering at a time.
A social club for queer community and creative connection.
•
A social club for queer community and creative connection. •
We’re a queer-led project bringing LGBTQ+ people together through food, film, and fun in unexpected spaces. Think brunch clubs, DIY screenings, and intimate events designed for connection, comfort, and community. It’s a space to be yourself, meet others, and share something real.
Upcoming
Events
September Brunch
We’re marking the shift in seasons with a long shared table and a menu that bridges summer and autumn. Tickets for the brunch sitting are now sold out, but if you’d like to join us later in the day for drinks at the bar, drop us a message on Instagram. Seasonal cocktails will be flowing and the space will stay open into the evening.
Queer DIY Horror Festival
Our DIY horror fest returns this October — a night of homemade queer horror films shot on mobile phones with extra camp and creative chaos. Expect guts, glitter, and very bad wigs. Submissions open soon.
Recipe Book Club
Part book club, part potluck. Each time we cook from the same recipe book and come together to share the feast. You don’t need to be a chef, just bring a dish and an appetite for queer community.
Previous Gatherings
We've been quietly building a queer little world: one plate, picnic, and screening at a time. Here's a taste of what we've been up to:
-
Brunches
We take over a former pub in East London and turn it into something special: a long table, a shared meal, and plenty of flowing drinks. Think seasonal dishes, low-stakes mingling, and the kind of afternoon that turns into evening before you realise.
-
Meet-ups
From cinema trips to park picnics, our meet-ups are a way to connect outside of big events. More casual, still full of queer joy. Open to members of our WhatsApp group, they’re an easy way to show up, share snacks, and spend time with lovely people.
-
DIY Queer Horror Festival
A celebration of queer fear and homegrown horror. We screen phone-shot horror shorts full of camp, creativity and very questionable special effects. Think haunted wigs, spooky lighting, and wildly committed performances. It’s silly, scrappy, and a little bit spooky.
ABOUT
SPORE
HOUSE
Spore House started with a simple idea: what if queer spaces made more room for connection? Not just dancing in a crowd, but sitting at a table. Sharing food. Watching something weird and wonderful together. Talking to someone new.
We wanted something softer, slower, but still full of joy. A way to gather that felt meaningful without being formal, and fun without relying on club nights.
So we began creating gatherings that brought people together in unexpected ways: brunches around long tables in an abandoned pub, cocktail afternoons, queer cinema outings, DIY film screenings, recipe book potlucks, and more.
There’s no single format. Just an ongoing experiment in queer community built around food, film, and friendship.
